Una Mia On Her Musical Journey, Taking Flight With Your Dreams, Inner Healing, Debut Show & more! 'The Sit Down' Ep. 43
@UNAMIAMUSIC joins THHGURU on the 43rd episode of 'The Sit Down,' hosted by Alex Henein! In this special episode, we had the chance to sit down with rising artist UNA MIA at her debut headline show in Toronto. Join us as we dive into her journey of self-discovery, healing, and musical success.
UNA MIA was born in Toronto to Bosnian immigrant parents and raised in Belleville, Ontario. Her upbringing was infused with the sounds of Balkan folk music, a reminder of her family's roots, while her mother also introduced her to blues, R&B, and pop. This rich musical foundation shaped UNA MIA's unique style. Although her family initially saw music as a hobby, UNA MIA's passion was clear. She trained with a voice teacher from ages 8 to 18 and spent much of her childhood immersed in music. After leaving Queen's University in 2020, she decided to fully pursue her dream.
Her big break came when she started posting singing videos on YouTube and Instagram. Collaborating with Ty Leon and the viral success of her tracks "Lose You" and "Better Care" marked key moments in her career. UNA MIA’s debut EP Airborne—a 3-year project—tells the story of healing, self-empowerment, and reclaiming personal freedom. In this episode, we explore her journey, the creation of Airborne, and her thoughts on inner healing. Tune in to hear her insights and the story behind her music!
