Since his last album “Scorpion” in 2018, Drake has given us a bunch of summer smashes as well as songs showcasing his lyrical ability, as loosies. This created an unprecedented anticipation for his next album because if those songs were that good we as fans could only imagine what was being held for the album. This intense anticipation led to a few leaks of what seemed to be his upcoming album ,which turned out to be false. A whole different set of songs ended up making the final cut. On September 3rd “ Certified Lover Boy” was officially released at 1a.m. eastern time. This 21 song record had the majority of our timelines’ awake way past our bedtime’s just to be able to live-tweet quote-ables and give premature reviews/critiques. Which is a clear indication of Drake’s impact in music. His album release day’s are almost like a musical holiday where we all come together like a family and listen to his recent efforts with a fine tuned ear. With features from Jay-Z, Lil Durk, Travis Scott, Lil Wayne ,Lil Baby, Future (and more) “Certified Lover Boy” is projected to have 650 million first week streams with the first day of it’s release already bringing in 153.4 million streams. Drake’s new album “Certified Lover Boy” is now available everywhere and below is the video to his single “Way 2 Sexy” Featuring Future & Young Thug.

INTERVIEW OF THE WEEK : The Breakfast Club x Malcolm Mays

You may recognize him from the hit tv series “ Snowfall “ or maybe even the hit tv series “ Raising Kanan “. Either way, Malcolm Mays gives the breakfast club a very dynamic interview where he touches on everything from his uncle being Tookie Williams to how he met John Singleton. It’s clear that Malcolm took this opportunity to drop gems on the youth and speak something of substance to uplift and inspire those coming up after him. He expresses going through his own set of trials and tribulations and how important his mom/community was to his journey of staying on the right path. Mays is not only an actor but also a writer, so expect to be seeing more from him real soon! The link to this full interview is below!

ARTIST TO LOOKOUT FOR : ELIJAH BANK$Y

Coming out of Monroe NY , Elijah Bank$y releases his new video “ 59fifty”. This visual is a tribute to NY-NYC hip-hop culture showing us everything from the subway trains, to the classic combo of the North Face jacket with the matching Yankee fitted hat. Bank$y opens his verse with the line “ They do their talking on apps, I do my talking in raps “ indicating that his music speaks for itself and anything he needs to say about his grind or progress can be found in his music. Which is something that kind of got lost in translation within hip-hop over the years due to social media. We all love a rapper who RAPS. Elijah also touches on being given the underdog treatment coming up as an emcee by people who now are salty about his growth with lines like “They had it, now they average Joe’s cause jealous ones envy “. This song is a great display of how it sounds when flow and wordplay combine with free flowing production. overall a super dope vibe! Check out Elijah Bank$y’s new video “59fifty” below!
