Advertised as Jay-Z’s final album before retiring, The Black Album debuted at No. 1 on the US Billboard 200, selling 463,000 copies in it’s first week of sales.

The Black Album was supported by three singles: “99 Problems,” Dirt Off Your Shoulder,” and “Change Clothes.” On August 16, 2005, The Black Album was certified 3x platinum by RIAA for shipments of over 3 million copies.
