Big Sean Has Parted Ways With Kanye West's GOOD Music Label
After 14 years on Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. music label, Big Sean has officially parted ways. The Detroit rapper confirmed the news on Twitter following the release of his five-track collaboration EP 'What You Expect with Hit-Boy. Big Sean famously signed to G.O.O.D. Music in 2007 after rapping to Kanye West at a Detroit radio station in 2005.
“By the way this the first project where I’m on my own label as well, no more lil dawg shit!!!! I bossed up! #DONLIFE”
After a fan reacted to Big Sean’s G.O.O.D. music departure, the Detroit rapper replied, “That’s a forever brotherhood, but business wise, I had to start getting a bigger cut! I worked my way out that deal.”
Although Big Sean left G.O.O.D. music , he is still signed to Def Jam Recordings, releasing music under his own imprint FF to Def Entertainment.
“I also really miss the brotherhood I use to have with GOOD music, I don’t know what happened. Guess those the GOOD ol days. It’s all love, but we use to really be clique’d up.”
Big Sean released five solo albums through G.O.O.D. music: Finally Famous, Hall of Fame, Dark Sky Paradise, I Decided and Detroit 2, as well as collaboration albums TWENTY88 with Jhené Aiko and Double or Nothing with Metro Boomin. Big Sean was also apart of the labels 2012 compilation Cruel Summer.
Big Sean’s new collaboration EP What You Expect with Hit-Boy includes features from Lil Durk, Bryson Tiller, Babyface Ray, & 42 Dugg.
