Wale Feat. Kelly Price "Sue Me" [Music Video]
By: Alex
Wale teamed up with Academy Award-winning nominee Lucas Hedges in his latest visual for “Sue Me” directed by Kirby Jean-Raymond. The visual finds Lucas, a young white male, experiencing the life of an African-American in a world where Caucasian are the minorities.
The visual begins with Lucas at his apartment in the projects with his family coming across an eviction notice, later walking through the projects, the ball courts, the subway, passing by billboards, and later transitioning to Wale’s verse and chorus sung by Kelly Price. Lucas walks into a coffee shop where he finds himself in the midst of a racial profile incident with real footage from the Starbucks arrest in 2018.
Lucas later visits his father in prison, playing a game of chess while talking about his sentence over a small drug offence —”There’s no hope for people who look like us.” The video ends with real-life footage from a prison inmate’s housing condition during the COVID-19 pandemic.
